What are biggerCritters?

biggerCritters are all one-of-a-kind, stuffed toys designed, sewed and named with love by Krissy Harris. biggerCritters are for people who want toys that have a little - ok, maybe a lot of - personality.

Did we emphasize the one-of-a-kind, unique, handmade, no-two-alike part? Good.

biggerCritters are each a lump of soft, plushy love waiting for just the right owner.

biggerCritters are made mostly of fleece, fur or some other very soft fabric and range in size from about 6 inches to 18 inches tall or wide. Eyes, tails, arms, feathers, pompoms and other odd things sticking out of their heads are all on tight. In particular, the eyes are fastened together with washers, not just sewn on.

They are safe for older kids and adults (obviously), and should be durable even for younger kids. But use your discretion - there are some little pieces. The biggerMojo line, however, definitely should be reserved for teens and adults, as there are smaller pieces that are not safe for younger children and babies.

Do people actually like these biggerCritters?

This is a common misconception - see, they're bigger. They're big, seriously. Most are more than a foot tall. Hold up your arm - from the crook of your elbow to the tip of your fingers - most are taller than that. (Unless you're really really tall.) A number of them - a good number of them - are about knee high. See? Bigger.

Seems many people reckon they're only about 4 inches tall - not so. Then they'd have to be called littleCritters and, well, the whole thing would have gone down differently.

And biggerKrissy?

biggerKrissy is me, Krissy Harris.

Well, the short of it is that I stopped working a day job a couple years ago - for myriad reasons. Although this was a really good decision, it also made me face the fact that I had no interests apart from work. How boring was I? Really really boring.

I decided I better get a hobby or two or my days were going to get very, very long. So I tried knitting, took Spanish and art classes, went on adventure days and made new friends. But I still needed something to do. And for no reason that makes any sense, I started making these weird stuffed toys - weird mostly because I didn't know how to sew. Next I got myself a sewing machine and sort of taught myself how to use it.

I was living a claustrophobic life that just kept getting smaller and smaller (not to mention crappier and crappier). As I made my way out, I decided I was going to be a bigger and better Krissy. Mix that in with a dash of private joke between a good friend and I, and biggerKrissy was born. I am biggerKrissy now. You should be bigger too. It's a pretty darn good place to be.

Who knew?

Hmm. Well. That's it, I guess. I think that in lots of ways, most of me lives here at biggerKrissy. My happiness is reflected in every critter I make.
